The new bag has a low-quality appearance and rather resembles the old Clearflex&reg; bag that has been phased out in most markets. In many cases Viaflo is introduced at the same price level as the Viaflex&reg; bag, pulling down the quality standard in the respective market. Safety is great problem with this container as the infusion-set can slip out of the very rigid outlet port of the Viaflo&reg; bag. This can have severe consequences for the patient - especially if such incidences are not noticed immediately, e.g. at night. In the UK the authorities (MHRA) have taken &quot;action&quot; to inform all users about the &quot;risk of disconnection...&quot;. The authorities say that the new container requires a &quot;different method of securing an IV-Set&quot; and refer the users back to the manufacturer\'s instruction for use:<br \/>- &quot;Firmly insert the spike to its maximum depth using a twisting motion&quot;<br \/>- &quot;Do not apply excessive twisting motions as this will increase the bore size of the outlet port&quot;<br \/>- &quot;If the set becomes disconnected from the outlet port, do not reinsert.&quot;<br \/><br \/>This underscores the difficulties for a user that switches from Viaflex&reg; to the Viaflo&reg; bag with its extremely poor holding forces. The Viaflo&reg; port requires a maximum insertion with a twisting motion (but not too much!) in order to arrive at a situation where the set can still slip out of the port (in which case it is not to be reinserted). What makes it even worse is the fact that the described effect is not the same for all infusion sets. The worst combination is a Baxter Viaflo&reg; bag with a Baxter Blood Set (frequently used in many markets). In general all siliconized spikes will show the same problem when used with the Viaflo&reg; bag. The B.&nbsp;Braun Intrafix&reg; spike works by far better with the Viaflo&reg; port. Altogether, the Viaflo&reg; can not be regarded as the legitimate successor of the Viaflex&reg; bag. It is only used in cases where the PVC bag can no longer be held in the market. ';
